Recent advances in Artificial Intelligence point to significant and potentially very rapid changes in our world. From the apps we use every day to decision-support systems across a wide range of sectors, AI is already an integral part of our lives and seems to permeate a wide variety of contexts. But this technological revolution also raises profound questions: what are the social implications of these tools? How can we ensure that the development of AI is ethical and responsible? Is it necessary to regulate the sector, and what are the views and trends on this matter around the world? How can we prepare for a future in which humans and machines coexist?

The ReGAInS project sees these questions as some of its deepest motivations. We are therefore delighted to invite you to the event ‘Not too artificial! A discussion on AI, humans and society’, which will take place on 13 June 2025 from 10.00 to 12.30 in the Sala Lauree of the Department of Law (second floor), Agorà Building U6, Piazza dell’Ateneo Nuovo, Milan.

This is not simply an event aimed at raising public awareness of AI, or at least it is not limited to giving the floor to experts and researchers working in the field to discuss technical aspects. Topics such as the following will be discussed:

The social impact and implications of AI;

Regulation and Legislative Oversight;

Philosophical aspects that are perhaps even more important in this new era.

We will have the opportunity to hear inspiring talks from leading experts:

• Federico Cabitza (University of Milan-Bicocca, CINI National Laboratories)
• Giovanni Ziccardi (University of Milan)
• Viola Schiaffonati (Milan Polytechnic)

The event will be introduced and chaired by Giuseppe Vizzari (University of Milan-Bicocca), who will ensure a constructive and stimulating dialogue between the speakers and the audience.
